CELIA SERRANO
artivist · composer · saxophonist · singer · facilitator

From late 2024 to April 2025, I took part in an artistic residency at Camp Westerbork, commemorating 80 years since the camp’s liberation. Through research, fieldwork, and on-site reflection, I created DNA of the land—a multidisciplinary immersive installation exploring the camp’s layered history through sound, space, and visuals. A deeply transformative project that pushed my artistic boundaries.

De Paso is a song I recorded two years ago, inspired by my first artistic residency at Camp Westerbork during my New Audiences and Innovative Practice Master's.
Inspired by the idea that time transforms everything, yet not everything heals. A place once marked by horror now overflows with natural beauty, but the land still whispers, quietly, its past.
Shelter of Stories is our debut EP as Still I Rise Collective. This EP is a refuge for our stories and lived experiences, using vulnerability as a form of empowerment and protest against the oppressive systems of patriarchy. Strengthened by our diverse musical backgrounds and our desire to come together and explore across genres, we create a unique sound inspired by contemporary jazz, minimalism, folk, and improvisation.
